The Chicago White Sox activated Paul Konerko on Friday after he missed a week with a mild concussion, the team announced.

Konerko batted fourth as the designated hitter, homering in the fourth inning, as the Sox opened a series on the road against the Kansas City Royals.

The Sox also recalled Hector Santiago while placing Orlando Hudson and Leyson Septimo on the disabled list.

Konerko has been on the DL since Aug. 10 with a concussion after being hit in the head by the elbow of Royals' Jarrod Dyson on Aug. 7. The Sox captain is hitting .316 with 18 home runs and 54 RBIs.
