MINNEAPOLIS -- Chicago slugger Adam Dunn will return to the White Sox lineup against Minnesota on Saturday for the first time since straining a muscle on his right side more than a week ago.

Dunn, who leads the White Sox with 38 home runs and 88 RBIs, missed seven games. Chicago is trying to hold off Detroit for the AL Central title.

Dunn took batting practice before Friday's game at Minnesota. White Sox manager Robin Ventura says he's comfortable playing Dunn because he's swinging without pain.

While Dunn could serve as Chicago's designated hitter, Ventura will play him at first base in an attempt to keep the muscle loose. Dunn, who is hitting .208, will bat third for the White Sox against the Twins.
