Sprained ankle hampering Hinrich

DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Chicago Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich sat out practice on Wednesday afternoon because of a sprained ankle, but is hopeful of playing Friday against the Washington Wizards.

"He's got a sprained ankle," Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro said after practice. "I want to sit and talk to [athletic trainer] Fred [Tedeschi] and the doctors and see how he's feeling. Then really just try to get him out there. We know how important he is to us. But for Kirk not to play [means he's really hurt]. It's like the third time I think he's sprained, [doctors] said. Hopefully, he can heal that thing up quick."

The only good news for the Bulls is that Luol Deng is working out once again and is trying to get back on the floor this weekend after missing 11 games because of a calf strain.

"I don't know how much I'll play," Deng said. "But I'll just go out there and start building up on my minutes."
