DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng will not play in Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Lakers because of a right hamstring injury.

Bulls swingman Jimmy Butlerwill get his second career start in Deng's place.

Deng did not participate in Monday morning's shootaround and Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau hadn't been optimistic regarding Deng's chances of playing.

"Still day to day, a little bit better today," Thibodeau said.

Deng initially injured the hamstring on Wednesday night in the first quarter of a game against the Toronto Raptors but ended up playing almost 48 minutes and knocking down the game winner in overtime. He reinjured the hamstring in the third quarter of Friday night's game against the Boston Celtics and was held out of Saturday's loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.
