Kirk Hinrich not ready to return

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Chicago Bulls point guard Kirk Hinrich says he will not play Sunday night against the Oklahoma City Thunder because of ongoing problems with his right elbow.

"(The healing) is progressing but not as quickly as I would like it to," Hinrich said before Sunday morning's shootaround. "Just taking it day by day right now and hoping for some improvement every day."

This will be the 15th game Hinrich has missed this season because of various injuries. The Bulls are 5-9 on the year in games he hasn't played.

The Bulls had hoped Hinrich's elbow problems were behind him after having a surgical procedure before the All-Star break to clear out the infected area, but the problems persisted after coming back in a win over the New Orleans Hornets last Tuesday.

Hinrich sat out games Thursday and Friday.

"We got more than enough," Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau said. "Nate (Robinson) has to step up and Marquis (Teague) has to step up so we'll go from there."
