Bulls' Kirk Hinrich day-to-day

Chicago Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich "didn't do much" at practice on Wednesday and is considered a game-time decision for Game 6 against the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday with a bruised left calf, according to coach Tom Thibodeau.

Hinrich sat out the Bulls' Game 5 loss but has played a huge role in helping the Bulls take a 3-2 series lead, especially with his defense on Deron Williams.

"I'm feeling better, seeing some improvement," Hinrich said. "Just kind of the same deal, taking it day to day, and just throwing everything at it to try and improve it as quickly as possible."

Hinrich said he's not ruling out playing in Game 6.

"I hope I can," he said. "It's going to be a game-time decision, I'm sure. I'd have to improve some, definitely.

"I ditched the walking boot and just starting to get some of the swelling out of there. I just have to get as much swelling out of there as possible to help if I have any chance of moving. ... I'm still walking very gingerly, and I haven't tried to run or jump or cut or anything yet, so I'm hoping that it improves a lot between today and [Thursday]."

Hinrich, 32, has battled injuries all season, but missing the playoffs is taking a toll.

"It's brutal," he said. "All year we've kind of been looking forward to this time. This is really the second time I guess I've missed playoff action, and it's never any fun. You never want to end a year like that.

"So just try to do the best I can to get ready, hopefully [Thursday] but if not [Thursday], whenever we play next or whoever we play next and go from there."

Taj Gibson and Luol Deng, meanwhile, were sick and did not practice, but Thibodeau said he's hopeful both will play Thursday.
