Illinois-Chicago freshman point guard Greg Travis has been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules, the school announced Saturday.

Travis, who is from Curie High School in Chicago, had averaged 5.0 points, 2.4 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 18 games this season.

"Greg has been suspended due to a violation of team rules, effective immediately," UIC coach Howard Moore said in a statement. "We are disappointed to have to make this decision, but it was necessary at this time. I fully expect Greg to make the adjustments asked of him and that he will continue to be a part of this program."

Travis did not play in UIC's game against Valparaiso on Saturday.
