Northwestern senior quarterback Dan Persa expects to play against Rice this week after suffering a shoulder injury in Saturday's win over Nebraska, coach Pat Fitzgerald said on Monday.
Fitzgerald spoke with Persa prior to his weekly press conference on Monday. Fitzgerald considered Persa to be day to day.
Persa injured his left shoulder during the second quarter of Saturday's win over Nebraska and did not play in the second half. He was 9-of-14 passing for 74 yards and one interception before his departure.
For the season, Persa is 123-of-165 passing for 1,330 yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions. He missed the season's first three games due to an Achilles tendon injury.
