Former USC wide receiver Kyle Prater said Thursday Northwestern is his frontrunner, and he will visit its campus the weekend of Jan. 28.

Prater, a redshirt freshman, said he has been informed his academic transcript would allow him admission into Northwestern. He planned to visit the school this weekend, but he had to re-schedule.

"Next weekend I will visit, then I'll deal with the other stuff after," Prater said. "My decision will be made in two weeks."

Prater announced he was transferring from USC on Jan. 8. He was injured for most of his two years with the Trojans.

Prater was ranked No. 45 in the Class of 2010 by ESPN coming out of Proviso West High School in Hillside, Ill. He had 64 receptions for 1,151 yards and 13 touchdowns his senior season.
