Bears' Dvoracek fined for hit on Bills QB

The National Football League has fined Chicago Bears defensive tackle Dusty Dvoracek $7,500 for a late hit on Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick last week.

According to a report on the Chicago Sun-Times' Web site, Dvoracek said referee Scott Green told him he was not fined for a late hit, but for helmet-to-helmet contact with Fitzpatrick. Dvoracek was adamant that it was not a late hit, though replays on television seemed to indicate he took two steps before hitting Fitzpatrick.

Dvoracek was penalized 15 yards on the play, a 19-yard completion to receiver Felton Huggins on a third-and-10. The play turned into a 34-yard gain for the Bills.

A league spokesman said the fine was for "unnecessarily striking the quarterback late," according to the Sun-Times.
