Source: Gabe Carimi may miss time

Chicago Bears rookie Gabe Carimi could miss some time, according to a source familiar with situation, who revealed the right tackle suffered a minor right knee dislocation Sunday in the team's 30-13 loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Carimi's injury isn't at this point expected to end the rookie's season. But according to sources, he could be out for multiple games.

The source also revealed Carimi didn't suffer any ligament damage.

"It (happened) during two-minute (offense) pass (protection)," Carimi said after the game. "It just got rolled up on. They haven't said anything yet (in terms of severity of the injury); haven't given me anything yet."

Chicago's top pick in the 2011 draft, Carimi suffered the injury with 32 seconds remaining in the second quarter of Sunday's loss. Carimi walked to the locker room with an athletic trainer just minutes after the injury.

Frank Omiyale took over for Carimi at right tackle, and quarterback Jay Cutler suffered six sacks (not specifically because of the insertion of Omiyale) over the course of the game.

Carimi becomes the second starter along the offensive line to suffer an injury that will require him to miss time. Starting right guard Lance Louis sprained his right ankle in the first half of the club's victory over the Atlanta Falcons in the opener.

"Injury wise, we lost a couple of guys," Bears coach Lovie Smith said Sunday. "Losing Lance Louis last week and Gabe Carimi going down put us in a hole a little bit. But it gave other guys an opportunity."
