LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Defensive end Julius Peppers rested his sore knee on Wednesday as the Chicago Bears hit the practice field in advance of playing the San Diego Chargers.

Peppers and right tackle Gabe Carimi (knee) were the only two Bears to be completely sidelined.

Receiver Devin Hester (ankle), running back Matt Forte (shoulder) and linebacker Lance Briggs (neck) were limited.

Defensive tackle Matt Toeaina (knee) had full participation.

Eight Chargers failed to practice on Wednesday, including receiver Malcolm Floyd (hip), offensive tackle Marcus McNeil, linebacker Shaun Phillips and defensive tackle Antonio Garay.

San Diego officially placed guard Kris Dielman on injured reserve due to a concussion.
