Free agent running back Kahlil Bell signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears on Saturday.

"I'm taking my talents back to Chicago," Bell tweeted. "So happy to be back. Never wanted to leave."

The Bears released Bell in the preseason after he reportedly refused to take a pay cut. However, the club found itself in need of another running back when Matt Forte suffered a high ankle sprain in the third quarter of the team's loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night.

Bears waived safety Jeremy Jones to make room on the roster.

The Bears were also scheduled to work out free agent tailback Steve Slaton on Saturday.
