Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte started Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys after missing last week's game due to a sprained right ankle.

Forte rushed for eight yards on Chicago's first play from scrimmage but limped off the field, visibly frustrated at apparently aggravating the injury. The Pro Bowler, who was replaced by Michael Bush, sat on the trainers' table to receive more tape on his right ankle

After Bush carried three times and hauled in a reception on the opening drive, Forte returned to the contest.

Forte finished with 13 carries for 52 yards as Chicago's defense fueled the Bears' 34-18 victory over Dallas.

Forte had been a game-time decision but was inserted into the starting lineup after testing out his ankle during pregame warmups.

Forte originally suffered the injury in Week 2 against the Green Bay Packers and was sidelined for last weekend's game against the St. Louis Rams. The five-year veteran participated in Saturday's workout after being limited in practice the previous three days.

Bears rookie fullback Evan Rodriguez (knee) and receiver Earl Bennett (hand) didn't play.
