"Henry has a concussion and he'll be in a NFL concussion protocol situation right now and will be day-to-day," Bears coach Marc Trestman said.
NFL concussion protocol requires a player to pass through four stages before he is cleared to resume full-contact football activities. Wide receiver Earl Bennett is currently working his way through the program after sustaining a concussion last weekend at Soldier Field.
Melton suffered a minor injury in practice on Wednesday but was still in the starting lineup when the Bears took the field against Carolina.
Nate Collins replaced Melton with the first-team unit after Melton suffered the concussion in the first quarter.
The Bears placed the franchise tag on Melton in the offseason after he was voted to the Pro Bowl last season. Melton recorded six sacks and a career-high 33 tackles in 14 games.
Long-snapper Patrick Mannelly suffered a rib injury covering a punt in the first quarter. Mannelly got blindsided as he ran down the field attempting to make a tackle. He will not return.
Linebacker James Anderson is listed as the No. 2 long-snapper on the Bears' depth chart.
Fullback Harvey Unga injured his ribs in the fourth quarter. Trestman also called Mannelly and Unga day-to-day.
