Chelios, Wolves sink Admirals

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The Chicago Wolves got goals from defenseman Chris Chelios, right wing Anthony Stewart, plus centers Jason Krog and Johnny Pohl, to beat the Milwaukee Admirals 4-2 on Saturday.

Chelios and Krog led the way for Chicago, which evened its record at 14-14-0-2 with the victory. The pair each notched a goal and an assist, while defenseman Steve McCarthy had two assists. Goaltender Peter Mannino made 32 saves in his first start since Dec. 5, and upped his record to 4-2.

With the game tied 2-2 after a power play strike by Milwaukee center Cal O'Reilly, Stewart snared the game-winner 4:17 into the third period. Stewart ripped a shot past Milwaukee netminder Chet Pickard. Pohl then added an empty-net goal to round out the scoring.

Krog gave Chicago an early lead at 3:18 in the first period. Krog put the puck past Pickard top shelf. Milwaukee then drew even with a tally at 10:34 in the frame from center Wacy Rabbit. Chelios then helped the Wolves regain the lead with a rocket from the blue line.

The Wolves will travel to Grand Rapids following the holiday break to play the Griffins on Dec. 26 at 6 p.m.
