EDMONTON, Alberta -- Michal Handzus returned to the Chicago Blackhawks' lineup Monday against the Edmonton Oilers after missing 14 games with an upper-body injury.

"We haven't had many injuries over the past few years, so it's nice to see a full lineup and all the options available," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said before Monday's 5-1 win. "[Handzus] is a useful guy and he was important for us at the end last year, so it's great to see him return."

Handzus, who last played Oct. 24 against the Tampa Bay Lightning, entered Monday night with three points in nine games this season. He got 12:57 of ice time and 20 shifts in the team's third straight victory.

Injured defenseman Mike Kostka (foot/ankle) also took part in the morning skate but has not been activated off injured reserve. Quenneville said Kostka might play at some point this week as the club's season-long, seven-game trip continues against Calgary, Dallas and Phoenix.

Bryan Bickell remained out with a lower-body injury.
