CHICAGO -- The Blackhawks have recalled forward Ben Smith from the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs, the team announced Thursday.

Smith was sent down to the minors earlier in the week but recalled after coach Joel Quenneville declared forward Dan Carcillo "questionable" for the team's game against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday.

Carcillo absorbed several blows in a fight against Minnesota's Brad Staubitz Wednesday night, but it's unknown if his injuries are related to the fight.

Smith has one goal in seven games this season for the Hawks.
