Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews left his team's game against the Nashville Predators in the second period Saturday night after suffering an undisclosed injury. He did not return.

Toews' final shift ended with 7:08 remaining in the second but replays were inconclusive as to how he was hurt. He was shoved lightly into a Predators' defenseman in front of the Nashville net just before his shift and night ended.

Toews was slashed on Friday night against the Florida Panthers and favored his left arm or hand for a portion of the game but afterward said he was fine.

"Took a whack on the hand," he said Friday. "Nothing serious. Should be ready for tomorrow [Saturday] night."

It's unclear if Toews aggravated that injury or suffered a new one.

Toews leads the Hawks with 27 goals.
