The Sox signed Jaime Navarro to a four-year, $20 million contract in 1997 after he led the Cubs in wins the previous two seasons. Navarro went 25-43 with a 6.06 ERA in three years with the Sox, souring Jerry Reinsdorf on four-year deals for pitchers.
