9. Maurice Cheeks, DuSable (Chicago), Class of 1974

Cheeks made his name in the NBA. With just a few options after his high school career in Chicago, he ended up at West Texas A&M University and played well enough there to be selected by the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round of the 1978 draft. He played 11 years with the 76ers and was one of the league's best defensive players. He was a four-time NBA All-Star. He also won a title with the 76ers.
