The year couldn't have gotten off to a much better start as Devin Hester returned the opening kick of Super Bowl XLI 92 yards for a touchdown, but the Indianapolis Colts prevailed 29-17 as the Bears committed five turnovers. The Cubs won the division but were swept by the Diamondbacks. Mark Buehrle fired a no-hitter and Jim Thome clubbed his 500th home run. Rocky Wirtz took over the Hawks after his father Bill passed away and hired John McDonough to run the club. The Hawks drafted Patrick Kane with the first overall selection and the Bulls took Joakim Noah in the first round.
