The White Sox led their division from wire to wire, although they faltered late in the season. But there would be no faltering in the playoffs as the Sox marched to their first World Series title in 88 years with a four-game sweep of the Astros. The Bulls made the playoffs for the first time since 1998 but lost to Washington in the first round. Ryne Sandberg entered the Hall of Fame and Derrek Lee won the batting crown. Illinois came back from 15 down to Arizona with four minutes left to win the Chicago regional in OT, 90-89.
