CHICAGO -- Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans has repeatedly expressed his desire to reclaim the belt he held briefly from December 2008 until May 2009.

But to guarantee a shot at current titleholder Jon Jones, most likely on April 21 in Atlanta, Evans must get past fast-rising and undefeated Phil Davis on Saturday night at United Center.

Evans took the first step toward accomplishing his goal by weighing 205 pounds Friday at The Chicago Theater. Davis also weighed in at 205 pounds for the five-round UFC on Fox 2 main event.

"It's going to be a good fight," said Evans, who will enter the bout on a three-fight win streak and a 16-1-1 professional record. "I can't wait to fight him. We've had words and it's time to see who can back them up."

Davis has a pro mark of 9-0-0.

In the co-feature, middleweight contenders Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping each weighed in at 185 pounds. The winner of this fight is assured of a shot against 185-pound champion Anderson Silva.

Sonnen has been orally harassing Silva since nearly dethroning the champion in August 2010. After dominating Silva for four rounds, Sonnen was submitted at 3:10 of the fifth round.

The third fight on the main card Saturday night pits Demian Maia against Chris Weidman in a middleweight bout.

Maia, who will look to win his second fight in a row, weighed 186 pounds on Friday. While the unbeaten Weidman, who accepted this fight 11 days ago, came in at 186 pounds.

Every fighter on the undercard also made the required weight limit for his respective bout.
