Podsednik excited about Sox call-up

Scott Podsednik said he was thrilled to learn he was getting called up by the White Sox from Triple-A Charlotte.

"It was exciting," he said Thursday on ESPN 1000. "As athletes and professionals, we all want to play in the big leagues and play on that biggest stage. It was exciting to talk with [Charlotte manager Chris] Chambliss [on Wednesday] and get the word that the big club is interested in bringing me back."

Podsednik, 33, was a catalyst for the Sox's 2005 World Series championship team. The Sox signed the outfielder to a one-year minor league deal on April 14.

He said he hasn't talked to anyone with the Sox about his new role.

"I never talked with anybody from the club about that yet," he said. "I flew from Charlotte to Dallas last night. I don't know the role. I don't know exactly what I'm walking into, but I'm prepared either way."

A Sox spokesperson said there will be no roster move announced today.
