His and Hers Double Instant Classic

Double Instant Classic Sunday
July 30, 2000
Time Event
6 p.m. ET 2000 Tour de France - Lance Armstrong
7 p.m. ET 2000 Women's U.S. Open - Karrie Webb

Karrie Webb
Karrie Webb has won three of the last four majors.
Leading off our "Double Instant Classic Sunday" at 6 p.m. ET is Lance Armstong's performance in the 2000 Tour de France. Armstrong won his second straight Tour proving many of his critics wrong. Armstrong's comeback from cancer to win the 1999 Tour made him a star, but cycling critics claimed he had beaten a weak field. This year Armstrong beat the world's best. ESPN Classic will bring you Stage 21 of the 2000 Tour de France. We hope you enjoy watching Armstrong's victory ride around the streets of Paris on the Tour's last day. He completed the 2,250 mile epic before thousands of cheering fans along the Champs-Elysees.

In part two of our Double Instant Classic at 7 p.m. ET, Karrie Webb claims her third win in the last four major championships. Webb, the world's No. 1 golfer, rallied from a shaky final round start to finish with a 6-under 282 and win the 2000 U.S. Open by five strokes. The Australian has been as dominating a presence on the LGPA Tour as Tiger has been on the PGA side. Webb has won 21 times in 4 1/2 years. Her historic first U.S. Open championship gave her the points she needed to qualify for the Hall of Fame (she will be eligible for induction after the 2005 season when she will have 10 years on the tour).
