By Bob Carter
Special to ESPN Classic

The Ravens are the seventh wild card team to make the Super Bowl. Two of the previous six won the title, Oakland in 1981 and Denver in 1998.

Here's a look at the six other Wild Card teams and how they fared:

  • Dallas (10-4 in regular season) lost to Pittsburgh 21-17 in 1976 Super Bowl.
  • Oakland (11-5) beat Philadelphia 27-10 in 1981.
  • New England (11-5) lost to Chicago 46-10 in 1986.
  • Buffalo (11-5) lost to Dallas 52-17 in 1993.
  • Denver (12-4) beat Green Bay 31-24 in 1998.
  • Tennessee (13-3) lost to St. Louis 23-16 in 2000.

Note: Before the wild-card format was established, Kansas City of the AFL was a second-place team that went on to the 1970 Super Bowl and beat Minnesota.
