TCU's double OT win over Baylor knocked the Bears out of the CFP and race for the Big 12 title, leaving Oklahoma vs. Ok State the de facto Big 12 title game. The league needs the Sooners to win because they are currently No. 3 and its best shot at a one-loss champ in the top four. The Cowboys sit at No. 11, clearly not a top team right now in the eyes of the committee. If Bama, Clemson and Big Ten take three spots, Ok St could be left out in favor of ND, or possibly even Stanford. Big 12 fans should root for Stanford tomorrow, and then for Stanford to lose in Pac-12 title game -- just to be safe.

Take Your Pick: Week 13 (2:18)

Rooting interest today for Notre Dame: Navy over Houston, TCU over Baylor, Nebraska over Iowa. Committee loves Navy, which is ND's best win to date. If Mids win today and Temple wins Saturday, ND will have wins against both teams in AAC title game. Baylor loss eliminates Bears from Big 12 title contention and the possibility of jumping ND for playoff spot. Iowa loss would make it tough for Hawkeyes to make Playoff even if they beat MSU/OSU/Mich in Big Ten title game.

Saturday's stakes higher than ever

Notre Dame could steal back a playoff spot with a win over Stanford. The Cardinal could get a big résumé boost with a victory, especially if they go on to win the Pac-12 title. GameDay Kickoff: Rivalry Week

Edwards: How we could end up with CFP chaos

With an upset or two, the CFP could be turned upside down. A numbers-based look at the likelihood of some of the juicier scenarios that could make the committee's job much, much harder.

A sampling of Notre Dame player reactions to dropping from 4 to 6 in the Playoff rankings: Will Fuller: "Sheesh." Joe Schmidt: (Blank stare) "This was my reaction." (Doesn't care) Sheldon Day: "Oh we are? I didn't watch it." (Gave a nice fib about a DL meeting last night.)

For what it's worth to Notre Dame: Last year's No. 6 at this time was eventual national champion Ohio State. (In other words, Irish, just win at Stanford 59-0 on Saturday and leave no doubt.)

Can Notre Dame crack the top four?

Notre Dame's only loss came against No. 1 Clemson. But with No. 9 Stanford still left on the horizon, the Irish could easily finish the season 10-2. A statement win over the Cardinal paired with a loss from one of the top teams, however, could change the conversation entirely.

Who gets the last two spots?

Oklahoma and Iowa grabbed playoff spots this week, but Michigan State and Notre Dame are right on their heels. The Sooners have the strongest resume of the four teams. But are the Hawkeyes' two wins against FPI top 40 schools enough to hold off the Spartans?
