Dec. 6, 1975: With Darrell Royal's power waning at Texas, the Aggies had their shot at Southwest Conference glory in the mid-70s after 15 losing seasons in a 16-year stretch from 1958-73. They were 10-0 and ranked No. 2 coming off a rousing victory over Texas, needing to beat Arkansas for their first perfect regular season since 1939. Instead, the Razorbacks smashed A&M. Not only did the Aggies lose national title aspirations; they lost an outright league championship and attendant trip to the Cotton Bowl.
