Nov. 24, 1973: Four days before he died in 2006, Bo Schembechler still expressed disbelief that the Big Ten hadn't sent the Wolverines to the 1974 Rose Bowl. No. 4 Michigan tied No. 1 Ohio State, 10-10. Late in the game, driving for the winning score, Michigan stalled because quarterback Dennis Franklin broke his collarbone. The Big Ten, which had lost four straight Rose Bowls, voted to send the Buckeyes instead of Michigan without Franklin. Schembechler, to the end of his life, mourned the "loss."
