  • Alabama's special teams took advantage of Clemson's 123rd-ranked special teams, according to ESPN's efficiency ratings Monday, adding almost seven expected points to the final score margin. The Crimson Tide scored a kickoff return for a touchdown - their sixth special-teams touchdown of the season (tied for most in the FBS) - blocked a field goal and recovered a game-changing onside kick.

  • O.J. Howard gained 143 of his career-high 208 receiving yards after the catch. That is the third-most yards after the catch among Power 5 players this season and the most yards after the catch by a Power-5 tight end in the last five seasons.

  • Deshaun Watson gained a career-high 49 yards on scramble runs Monday, which was also the most Alabama has given up this season. Watson achieved a first down - four by passing and four by rushing - on 8-of-17 plays when he scrambled, three more than any other game in his career.

  • Jake Coker completed 7-of-9 passes for a career-high 211 yards and a touchdown after a play action Monday, including a 63-yard completion to O.J. Howard in the Crimson Tide's last pass play of the game that set up their final touchdown.

  • Deshaun Watson's 93.7 Total QBR is the highest for a losing quarterback in a championship game since 2004.

  • Jake Coker threw for a career-high 335 yards Monday, besting his previous high of 286 yards in the national semifinal against Michigan State. His 253 passing yards in the second half would have been his third-highest total for a game in his career.Coker averaged 21.1 yards per attempt in the second half, highest for any quarterback in any half in the FBS this season (min. 10 att).

  • Jake Coker had a 92.4 Total QBR in the CFP Championship, a 91.7 Total QBR in the Cotton Bowl and a 92.7 in the SEC Championship game. He is the third player in the last 10 seasons to have a Total QBR of 90 in three postseason (conference championship or bowl game) games, joining South Carolina's Connor Shaw and Stanford's Kevin Hogan. Shaw and Coker are the only ones to do it in consecutive games.

  • This is Alabama's 12th victory against an FBS team that finished with a winning record, most in FBS history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

  • Kenyan Drake's kickoff return for a touchdown is Alabama's sixth special teams touchdown this season, tied with Tennessee for the most in FBS.

  • Derrick Henry (ALA): 3rd player to rush for 100 yards and 2 TD in a half during the national championship game. The last 2 players to accomplish the feat (Ezekiel Elliott in 2014 and Vince Young in 2005) went on to win the game's Offensive MVP award.

  • Hunter Renfrow (CLEM): 2 Rec TD in the first quarter; he's the first player with 2 Rec TD in a quarter in a national championship game since Steve Smith did it for USC against Oklahoma in the 2nd quarter of the 2005 Orange Bowl (2004 season).
