Irish No. 21 in Steele's forecast
Surprisingly (OK, maybe not), Notre Dame did not land as many players on Phil Steele's preseason All-American team as it did on his preseason all-independent team. The Irish did get two, however, as Tyler Eifert and Manti Te'o are among Steele's preseason first-team All-Americans.

ND has 20 on Steele's all-independent team
Notre Dame placed 20 players on Phil Steele's preseason all-independent team, including 13 on the first team. BYU was a close second with 18. Army and Navy each had seven. The usual suspects (Cierre Wood, Manti Te'o, Tyler Eifert) make the first team, as does Notre Dame's entire starting defensive line, even without transfer Aaron Lynch.

ND spring wrap: Offseason issues remain
Following consecutive 8-5 campaigns, Notre Dame entered this spring with a re-shuffled staff, a wide-open quarterback competition and arguably one of the nation's best defensive lines.
