Tulane on Friday opted out of its four-game agreement with Georgia Tech just two days after the ACC announced its entire schedule -- leaving the Yellow Jackets with a hole to fill in Week 2.

Tulane was scheduled to host Georgia Tech on Sept. 6, but construction on Yulman Stadium, the Green Wave's new $55 million facility, may not be completed as expected by that date.

The schools could not find a later date to move the game, according to a release from Georgia Tech, which expects to announce a new opponent as early as next week.

"We are extremely disappointed that Tulane has decided to cancel the four-game series with Georgia Tech, beginning with our game in New Orleans next fall," Georgia Tech senior associate athletic director Ryan Bamford said in a prepared statement. "The timing of Tulane's decision [after the ACC schedule was released earlier this week] is especially tough for us."

Tulane exercised the cancellation provision in the contract, which included a cancellation fee of $300,000, a source told ESPN.com. The original contract was signed in 2007 for games to be played in the 2014, '15, '18 and '19 seasons.
