North Texas coach Dan McCarney has received a new five-year deal through 2018, sources told ESPN.

McCarney's new deal will make him among the highest-paid coaches in Conference USA, a source said. McCarney made $545,300 last season, which ranked among the bottom half of C-USA coaches.

Last year, McCarney, 60, led the Mean Green to a 9-4 record and Heart of Dallas Bowl victory, the school's first bowl win in 11 seasons.

In three years at UNT, McCarney is 18-19. In the previous six years before McCarney, the Mean Green were 13-58.
