Sophomore Mike White has been named the USF Bulls' starting quarterback, a source said Sunday.

White beat out junior Steven Bench, who transferred to USF from Penn State in 2013.

Last season USF used four different starting quarterbacks on its way to a 2-10 record.

Bench started two games, while White started the final five games. White threw for 1,083 yards, three touchdowns and nine interceptions.

The Bulls open the season with four consecutive home games against Western Carolina, Maryland, NC State and UConn.
