DE Carl Lawson will be back at Auburn next season

Auburn defensive end Carl Lawson is returning to school next season, his father, Carl Lawson Sr., confirmed to ESPN.com.

There were rumors swirling that Lawson, a redshirt sophomore, might declare early for the NFL draft, but he sent out a tweet Wednesday hinting that he would return.

When healthy, Lawson is one of the top pass-rushers in the SEC. But he has battled injuries throughout his career. He missed the entire 2014 season after suffering a torn ACL in spring practice, and he missed six games this season following a hip injury he suffered in the season opener against Louisville.

Still, in the seven games he played this year, Lawson finished with 17 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack and 11 quarterback hurries.

Also Wednesday, Auburn teammate Shon Coleman announced his plans to leave school early and declare for the NFL draft. A junior left tackle, Coleman has started every game since the beginning of the 2014 season.

"It was a very hard decision, but I've decided to forego my final year and enter the NFL Draft," Coleman said in a tweet. "I'll forever be an Auburn Tiger!"
