Baylor QB Seth Russell cleared to resume football-related activities

Baylor quarterback Seth Russell announced Monday he has been cleared to resume football-related activities, three months after he suffered a season-ending neck injury.

"Had one of my last check ups today and was given the go to getting back on the field and back to work!" Russell wrote on his Instagram account.

Russell threw for 2,104 yards and accounted for 35 total touchdowns in seven starts in 2015, leading all FBS quarterbacks in passing efficiency. He suffered damage to the cervical vertebra on a hit in the fourth quarter of Baylor's 45-27 win over Iowa State on Oct. 24.

Russell had surgery in November and is expected to be healthy enough to participate in spring practice.
