Texas senior Christian Scott arrested
AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas senior safety Christian Scott has been suspended from the team after being arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault with bodily injury.
An Austin police spokeswoman says Scott was arrested Monday morning near his apartment after officers responded to a call about an assault. Further details were not immediately released.
The charge is a Class A misdemeanor which brings a maximum of one year in jail and/or a fine of up to $4,000.
Coach Mack Brown said in a statement Monday evening that Scott was suspended from "all activities with our football team." He says when the legal process is complete, "we will do what's best" for the school, Scott and the team.
Scott started 10 games last season and had 53 tackles and one interception as Texas finished 5-7.
