RB Stephfon Green rejoins Penn State

Penn State Nittany Lions senior running back Stephfon Green has rejoined the team after missing preseason camp for undisclosed reasons.

Team spokesman Jeff Nelson confirmed Green's return Friday in an email to ESPN.com. Green posted on his Twitter page Thursday night: "just glad everything worked out and i'm back with my team!!"

Coach Joe Paterno on Aug. 16 expressed doubt that Green would return to the team, saying, "Stephfon's had some problems with me and I think right now for the benefit of everybody and especially the good of the football team it might be better if he backs away."

Green rushed for 578 yards and five touchdowns as a freshman but saw his production drop in each of the past two seasons. He backed up Evan Royster but struggled with injury problems.

Silas Redd and Brandon Beachum have been Penn State's top running backs in camp, so Green likely will move into the No. 3 or No. 4 spot on the depth chart.
