MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Memphis defensive coordinator Jay Hopson has resigned after being told he would be reassigned to a new position for the Tigers.
According to the team, second-year coach Larry Porter named Mike DuBose and Galen Scott co-coordinators Wednesday.
The Tigers (0-2) have allowed a Football Bowl Subdivision-worst 628 average yards on defense in a 47-3 loss to Arkansas State on Saturday and a 59-14 loss to Mississippi State on Sept. 1.
The 42-year-old Hopson was in his second season at Memphis.
DuBose, who coached Alabama from 1997 to 2000, will continue coaching the defensive line, and Scott will continue coaching linebackers.
