Dominique Easley has torn ACL

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida sophomore defensive tackle Dominique Easley will miss the Gators' bowl game because of a torn ACL in his left knee, coach Will Muschamp said Sunday.

Easley suffered the injury during Florida's 21-7 loss to Florida State on Nov. 26. He will have surgery on Wednesday, Muschamp said.

"It's unfortunate for him, but he'll be back," Muschamp said.

The injury occurred when Easley planted his leg oddly early in the second quarter. He was unable to put weight on his knee and was helped to the sideline by medical staff. He was later carted off.

Easley had two tackles against FSU, including a 5-yard sack on the Noles' first drive.

The 6-foot-2, 282-pound lineman was a five-star prospect in the class of 2010, arriving at Florida as ESPNU's No. 1 defensive tackle in the nation. He emerged in his sophomore season as a disruptive force on the defensive line, recording 37 tackles, 1½ sacks and 7½ tackles for loss in playing all 12 games.

Florida will face Ohio State in the Gator Bowl on Jan. 2.
