Jaz Reynolds ruled out for bowl game

Oklahoma will be without a starting wide receiver and two key offensive reserves for the Dec. 30 Insight Bowl against Iowa.

Wideout Jaz Reynolds, who has been hospitalized since the Oklahoma State game last weekend with a kidney injury, has been ruled out. So have backup running back Brandon Williams (neck) and fullback Aaron Ripkowski (back).

Reynolds is OU's third leading receiver this season, with 41 receptions, 715 receiving yards and five touchdowns. But after serving a one-game suspension against Iowa State on Thanksgiving weekend, Reynolds had to leave the Oklahoma State game after sustaining the kidney injury in the first half. With Ryan Broyles out for the year with a torn ACL, the Sooners are down to just one starting wide receiver, sophomore Kenny Stills.

Williams, a true freshman, had gradually taken on a bigger role in the offense after starter Dominique Whaley suffered a season-ending ankle injury. He was averaging 4.8 yards on 46 carries.

Ripkowski, also injured at Oklahoma State, had become an integral part of OU's "Belldozer" package, a short-yardage power formation featuring backup quarterback Blake Bell.
