Mountain West aligns with Hawaii Bowl
HONOLULU -- The Sheraton Hawaii Bowl will feature a team from the Mountain West Conference in 2012 and 2013.
The move, announced Wednesday, comes as Hawaii moves from the Western Athletic Conference to the Mountain West starting next season.
Bowl operator ESPN Regional Television reached an agreement with the Mountain West to be a part of the bowl game that's traditionally played on Christmas Eve.
Under the agreement, a team from the Mountain West will face a team from Conference USA, which has been associated with the Hawaii Bowl since its inception in 2002.
Mountain West commissioner Craig Thompson said he was pleased to announce the agreement, which brings the conference back to five bowl slots.
Nevada faces Southern Miss on Saturday in this year's Hawaii Bowl.
