Georgia cornerback Sanders Commings will serve a two-game suspension at the start of next season for his role in a domestic dispute in January.

The university made the announcement Wednesday, saying Commings, a rising senior, will miss the Bulldogs' Sept. 1 opener against Buffalo and a Sept. 8 road game against SEC newcomer Missouri.

Commings was arrested Jan. 21 and charged with simple battery and domestic violence after an early-morning incident with a girlfriend in downtown Athens. He was charged with striking the woman, but friends who were present later testified to police that he did not hit her.

His arraignment is March 22 in Athens-Clarke County state court.

Commings started all 14 games last season and was fourth on the team with 55 tackles.
