JONESBORO, Ark. -- Arkansas State defensive coordinator Keith Patterson has resigned less than two months after being hired.
Coach Gus Malzahn announced the resignation in a news release Friday. Patterson had been hired as ASU defensive coordinator on Jan. 4 -- less than a month after Malzahn was hired as head coach.
Malzahn said Patterson is leaving for a job at another FBS program and that a search for his replacement is under way. Malzahn did not disclose where Patterson is going.
Patterson spent last season as defensive coordinator and linebackers' coach at the University of Pittsburgh and served briefly as interim head coach at Pittsburgh.
