Kansas junior running back James Sims was arrested early Sunday morning on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence, according to a report in the Lawrence Journal-World.

Associate athletic director Jim Marchiony confirmed the arrest to the paper, and said any discipline would be handled internally.

Sims was arrested on the 1300 block of Jayhawk Boulevard, which is on the University of Kansas campus, near the Memorial Union.

The Irving, Texas native led the Jayhawks in rushing the past two seasons, racking up 1,469 yards rushing. In January, shortly after replacing Turner Gill as Jayhawks coach, Charlie Weis dismissed 10 players from the team, including running back Darrian Miller, a highly-recruited freshman from the Kansas City area who was second on the team with 559 yards rushing.
