Vols' Izauea Lanier ineligible for 2012

Redshirt junior defensive back Izauea Lanier is ineligible for the 2012 season, Tennessee announced Thursday.
Lanier was expected to compete for the starting cornerback job. No explanation for his ineligibility was given in a release by the university.
Lanier, from Gordo, Ala., played in all 12 games for the Vols last season, starting nine. He recorded 48 tackles, good for sixth on the team, and broke up four passes.
