Title banner sent to wrong school
GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- North Dakota State won the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision title. The rival University of North Dakota got the banner.
The package and a letter from the NCAA -- addressed to Mr. Brian Faison, Athletics Director, North Dakota State University, Hyslop Sports Center, Grand Forks, N.D. -- arrived Wednesday, the Grand Forks Herald reported.
"I'll call (North Dakota State athletic director) Gene Taylor and tell him it's here," Faison, the North Dakota athletic director, told the newspaper.
The letter was signed by Kelly Dodds, the assistant director of the Hall of Champions and Conference Center. The banner had been displayed in the NCAA Hall of Champions.
North Dakota State won the championship in January, beating Sam Houston State 17-6 in the title game in Frisco, Texas. The Bison finished the season 14-1.
