Ex-Illini Steven Feagin sentenced
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- A former University of Illinois football player has been sentenced to 90 years in prison for raping a student in 1995.
Prosecutors in Illinois' Champaign County say Steven Feagin was sentenced Wednesday after being found guilty in June of raping the then-22-year-old art student in her apartment.
Feagin was found guilty of three separate acts against the woman. Each carried a sentence of up to 30 years in prison.
Feagin is now 42. The former Illini running back was arrested in 2008 in Florida after DNA evidence collected from a crime scene in that state led police to him.
He is also charged in two other long-unsolved Champaign County rapes from 1993 and 1995.
Feagin was a student at Illinois from 1989-94. He rushed for 1,558 yards.
