The Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office said the 19-year-old McEvoy was arrested and released Sunday on $250 bond for the two charges.
North Carolina law bans drivers under 21 from operating a motor vehicle if they have any alcohol in their bloodstream. The charge is classified as a misdemeanor.
South Carolina spokesman Steve Fink said McEvoy is suspended from the team per program policy. The Gamecocks open fall practice Friday night.
McEvoy did not play last season, sitting out the year as a redshirt. He is expected to compete for a backup role behind starter Connor Shaw.
